Icy Blonde
“[This] is particularly suited to those with a fair complexion and light-colored eyes,” says Rita Hazan, founder of her eponymous NYC-based salon and product line and celebrity colorist (she counts Beyoncé and Katy Perry as clients). Since you're removing the pigment from your hair to get it this light, Rita adds that this will leave your strands fragile and could mean cutting your hair down the line — especially if you don't commit to regular conditioning treatments. If you’re looking for a hair mask that will keep your strands healthy, check out Oribe Signature Moisture Mask.

Seeing Shadows
Looks Like: Ribbons of highlights with a shadow along the root. “Keep the root a level darker than the rest of your strands to create dimension and contrast,” explains Rachel Bodt, a celebrity colorist at Cutler salon in NYC. “When highlights start right at your scalp, it can look dated (think: old-school Britney in the early 2000s) and unnatural.” Ask your color pro to paint highlights a little further down. If you brighten up all over, have them tint a faux root along your part.

Babylights
“This is a great way to blonde-ify your hair without seeing too many streaks of color,” Rachel explains. “The roots are colored but it's super soft and minimal. Then it gets a bit brighter in the middle, and is lightest at the ends.” The look is totally reminiscent of the way the sun naturally lightened up your locks when you were a kiddo. Some clients even bring beach pics of them when they were little to use as inspo.

24 Karat Gold
You know how the gold butterfly filter makes you look insanely good? This is the hair color version of that. Golden blonde highlights warms up your skin and — like actual gold — catches the light in the prettiest, sparkliest way ever (cue 1,000+ selfies). According to Rachel, you should ask your colorist to warm up the gloss with a slightly deeper gold at the root and a lighter gold on the rest of the hair so it doesn't all blend together.

Triple Platinum
This is the last shade of blonde before you’re in the white zone. While this looks seriously badass, it's important to keep in mind that it requires a ton of maintenance (you’ll need touch ups on the reg), a boatload of money, and it takes a serious toll on your hair. But if you’re cool with all that — it looks hella fierce. Nicola Clarke, creative color director for Color Wow recommends asking for sections of ice-white tones mixed in to give life and dimension.

Rose Gold Bold
If you love wearing rose-gold jewels or live for all-pink-everything, consider this twist on strawberry-blonde strands. Want to road test Debbie Ryan's look? Celebrity colorist Kim Vō suggests using Schwarzopf BlondMe Instant Blush. “It's an easy spray-on, one-bottle application,” Kim explains. “Apply with gloves to dry hair and then blow dry to see final look.”

Yellow Blonde
Model Georgia May Jagger makes a pretty strong case for bringing back a yellow blond hue. Turning to Bleach London co-founder and colorist Alex Brownsell, not only is the darker blonde making a comeback, it's also a lot healthier on your hair. Just be sure you ask for a golden blonde so you don't turn brassy. And if you love doing curls, waves, or sleek strands with heat tools, we recommend the ghd Platinum Styler for avoiding damage to your ‘do.

Rose Quartz
Expert hairstylist Josh Wood, the founder of London-based Josh Wood Colour Salon and Redken Global Color Creative Director. created this vivid lilac look for Stella Lucia. But the dustier blend on cotton candy pink and purple hues is too good to wait until then to give it a go. For an on-trend '90s feel, Josh tells us, "We layered a grey undercoat first to give a more neutral base, then layered Redken City Beats over the top in City Ballet Pink and Chelsea Coral." To preserve the delicate hue, dry your strands with an AQUIS Lisse Luxe Hair Turban, which doesn’t damage your strands and helps color hold onto your hair for longer periods of time.

Rooty Blonde
Created by Rita Hazan colorist Nicole Tresch, Ashley Benson's mix of golden blonde with whiter highlights adds dimension to her color, and her darker roots mean way fewer trips to the salon since the color grows out naturally. Keep your roots from getting greasy with Drybar Detox Whipped Dry Shampoo Foam — it’s fun to apply, as a bonus.

Soft Ombré
Model Joan Smalls adds just a hint of color from the mid-lengths to the ends of her dark hair for a little pick-me-up that won't require much maintenance. This lighter color on the ends look is also perfect for trying out bolder hues according to Josh. "I think a good set of highlights or balayage enhanced by robust pastels is a modern way of layering color," he explains. To bring out the shade gradient and make it shine bright, mist your strands with our favorite Philip B Weightless Conditioning Water, which also makes your hair smell amazing.

Cinnamon
Whether you call it copper or insist it's forevermore known as pumpkin spice hair, red shades like Sophie Turner's are always big for fall. Just be sure you're prepared to fight the fade. "[Red] is more high maintenance," Rita points out, adding that you can expect to head to the salon once a month to keep up the color. There’s nothing better than the Orlando Pita Play Ampli-Tint Color Depositing Hair Mask in Copper Red for reviving your hair hue between appointments.

Deep Espresso
Even if you tend to stick to your signature chocolate brown hue like model Sara Sampaio, Rita says it's all about establishing a hair routine to keep your color looking fresh. "I'm a huge advocate for shampoo, gloss, then condition," Rita explains. "Hair loses pigment and gets dull, so by doing a gloss a few times a week in your shower, you can stop fading and keep your color vibrant," she says, which is why she created a line of at-home glosses.

Jet Black Hair
Model Imaan Hammam quite possibly has the most gorgeous single tone shade we've ever seen. "Either use a gloss for shine or use a more translucent color so it still has dimension," Rita advises if you go for an inky black or rich brunette color sans highlights. We love swapping out conditioner for Oribe Glaze for Beautiful Color once a week to further boost that shine.

Electric Blue
If you needed further proof that you can still rock a rainbow shade as the cold weather approaches, Rita confirms the trend is showing no signs of slowing down. "Fun, pastel hair isn't going anywhere," she says. "The new take is layering rainbow shades," she adds, which can mean going for several bold colors or copying Rihanna by mixing multiple tones from the same color family. Pro tip: match your mani to your new mane, like Rihanna did when she tried this teal hue. If you’re considering, try the Splat Complete Color Kit in Blue Envy.

Neon Red
If a subtle auburn shade isn't your thing, consider going bright red like Jaden Smith. Not only will it pop against your darker fall wardrobe, but the cherry red color also fades into a pastel pink as it washes out. Nothing beats the duo of Davines Alechemic Shampoo Red and Davines Alchemic Conditioner Red for continuously depositing the perfect pink-red tint on your strands, which helps prevent them from fading while keeping your hair healthy.

Dark Teal
The boys of K-pop band BTS are no strangers when it comes to technicolor hair, so their latest dip into teal shades should come as no surprise. While some of the boys have gone for dusty pastels and neutral hues, it's Suga’s bright blue bangs and full-on teal color that really stand out. If you’re bleaching your hair beforehand to copy the look, keep it healthy with Carol’s Daughter Monoi Repairing Sulfate-Free Shampoo.

Pretty in Peach
We love seeing what nail artist Madeline Poole will come up with when it comes to eye-catching colors and designs we can use as inspiration for our next mani. But at New York Fashion Week, it was actually her stunning peach hair that grabbed our attention. The Troll doll-inspired color which was created by Salon Ruggeri's Illeisha Lussiano is brighter than your typical blorange and has us totally obsessed. We love the Paul Mitchell Ultimate Colour Repair Conditioner, which uses quinoa to lock in your color.

Neon Streaks
If you're looking to ease your way into bold territory, Rita says a few streaks of color are the way to do it. "If you don't like it there's no harm done," she explains since you'll only have to pre-lighten the sections getting the rainbow color. "If you do like it, you can always add more." You can also fake the look for a day with the Splat Hair Chalk if you have blonde or bleached hair.

Bright Blonde
Who says you can't go blonde for the fall? Solange did it, and you can, too. Just make sure you do your homework first and find a good colorist who will take care of your hair as you lighten. We recommend plenty of applications of evo Fabuloso Platinum Blonde Conditioner to keep your color bright.
